I keep telling my Mum to threaten to leave but she never does
They've been customers with NTL since the days of cabletel so one of the first lot, and they're paying £55 for 4mb BB, phone line and the second most basic TV package.
They're really getting ripped off imo, all because they don't argue it. Grrr!

Sky One is turd, repeats interspersed with crappy adverts every 5 minutes, wouldn't miss it at all.

Hope Sky Sports News doesn't disappear though, we watch that quite a lot here

I'm pretty sure that's included.

Oh, I forgot about the police stuff. Can be quite fun watching idiots ending up on the wrong end of the law.

So, I need to replace: Stargate/Atlantis, Cricket(maybe), and Cop shows.

Then I'll tell Sky where they can shove their £43.50pcm.

Hmm that's a bit pants, some of the presenters are hawt

I'd happily pay a couple of quid or even a fiver a month for Sky Sports News, wonder if that's the eventual plan - make the channels available as an optional package?

The only reason we had the NTL TV package is because it worked out at about £3 extra per month as a internet/phone/tv package. Losing Sky doesn't bother me at all because we never watch it anyway.

If you don't mind me asking, which package deal have you got?
At the moment I think we pay £35 for Standard TV, 2Gb Broadband and evening/weekend phone calls. I don't know if we can get cheaper/better on Virgin's new options?

I think it's the same as yours but without the free eve/wkend calls. It's £30. We didn't want to pay the extra for eve/wk phone calls because we both have free mins on our mobiles. When I signed up for it, I thought it was £30 per month. Our first bill was for £34.something so I rang them to find what was up and found out they'd added this call package without asking me. I removed it.

Oh and I got this email today. Don't know if anyone would want to see it:

Dear customer,

Let’s face it. Things would be pretty boring if choice didn’t exist. There’d be just one kind of airline to fly with. One type of car to drive. And if Sky had their way, there’d only be one place to get TV.

We thought we’d let you in on a few tricks they’ve been trying to get their way.

While we’ve continued to make Virgin Media channels like Living, Bravo and Challenge available to all Sky customers, Sky may withdraw their non-premium channels from Virgin Media’s service – in order to force you into switching service.

Virgin Media were willing to pay an increase in costs in order to get the complete range of Sky content and channels.

However, Sky have consistently demanded an increase that bears no relation to the channels’ market value.

We have refused to accept this increase, since it would mean absorbing significant costs ourselves, and passing the kind of price increase on to our customers that is simply unfair. We are not prepared to rip off our customers.

So Sky have picked up their ball and gone home.

As a Virgin company, we’re well used to the attempts of large corporations trying to manipulate markets, stifle competition and rip off consumers.

Luckily, we don’t think Sky’s the limit.

We think the future’s full of fresh entertainment and communication possibilities. And we’re looking forward to bringing them to you. With all the freedom and choice you deserve.

We’ve launched Virgin Central, a revolutionary type of TV channel, where programmes start and stop when you say so. This is only available on Virgin Media, since Sky don’t have the technology to be able to transmit it. What’s more, it’s available to every single one of our digital TV customers.

And there’s our unique on demand library. A giant collection of over 500 films, 1000 music videos, 100s of TV shows – all at your beck and call. You can access them at any time.

We’re not scared of competition, we welcome it.

To find out more, visit virginmedia.com/fairplay.

Yours,

Sir Richard Branson
