You can get full 1080p sets for far less than £1800. Our 40" Sammy can be had for under £1k now.

Just had a look, if you want that particular set, it's kicking around at £1300 now.

It's a lot of money for my tastes. I saw a 720p 37" LCD TV on the HUKD RSS a couple of days ago for £399, the extra pixels just dont seem worth thrice the price and then some. Maybe when HD sources are a lot more common, and standard.

I thought the Wii had an HD cable available, is that not right?

HD cable yes, but it upscales a standard def source (only to 420p I think, cant remember the exact designation, but it isnt 720), it doesn't actually produce a HD signal.

The Wii is more of an Enhanced Def...it's 480p.
Looks OK on an HD set but nothing spectacular.

Yeah, just tidies up the edges a bit on ours, make a bigger difference on games like Zelda.

But I guess it'll be very noticable on the 360 going from what's effectivly a composite input to HD.

Very much so. I cant look at a 360 on standard def, too painful! Both the 360 and PS3 are designed to output a widescreen, HD signal as standard. The SD support is the after thought, rather than the other way around like with the Wii (though the Wii's after a different demographic of course).

would still recommend the th37px70, especially if you watch a lot of SD TV , for SD ( especially sport ) it will thrash LCD units
