I don't read magazines to do with music and this is the only forum I frequent that mentions anything to do with music.
I heard some of their stuff on the radio, I downloaded it, I liked it. Couldn't care less about what others think of it because there's no such thing as fact when it comes to 'what is good music' imo, because it's all down to opinion. Simple as that

I find it interesting that anyone feels the need to comment on the size of the lead singer at all. Anyone want to have a crack at Pavarotti because he was partial to the odd pork pie?

I don't care how big she is, i still think she has a terrible attitude problem from the few interviews i've seen/heard on tv/radio.

I haven't commented on the size of Ms Ditto as it shouldn't really make any odds but the fact is that she makes an issue of her size as well, perhaps pre-emptively. Since she makes it a point of note it can hardly be expected that everyone will avoid giving opinions on it. Like it or not some people (myself probably included) are influenced by features/facets of artists personalities that are extraneous (for the most part) to the music - for instance when you now listen to Gary Glitters music do you ever think about his child pornography charges or The Sex Pistols and think of Sid Vicious possibly murdering Nancy Spungen before dying of a drugs overdose?

I don't actually remember mentioning her weight in my post but people appear to have filled in some blanks.
I was actually referring to her view on gay rights which is mentioned in the music. Her weight is neither here nor there for me, I just happen to think she has a fantastic voice, nothing more or less.

i tend to see a role model as someone who you'd happily follow in their footsteps of everything they do, not just a small section of that.
the fact that she came from a very christian family in the middle of the bible belt and managed to become her own person and be happy with who she was is no small feat, it's still not someone i'd aspire to be with her physical health.

but you cannot ignore the fact that she is a chain-smoking, binge-drinking, drug-taking, pete-doughterty-screwing waif. my issue with the gossip is that their music is a platform for beth dittos activism, more than it is about the music itself |

everyone has a personal agenda, not everyone in music is there for the money, the glamour, the fame or the rock and roll lifestyle. if nelson mandella started a pop career would you have a problem with that?
