I'd prefer an Aston with a few creature comforts if I would be driving it a lot, then again my view isn't really valid as I don't have a car history.

Sod the comforts.
I find the Lotus Elise to have too many toys in it now. Hell the new ones have traction control - no thanks....

I think the Aston was a very bad choice for the circumstances. I suspect James May had the blinkers on when deciding what car to drive (if he actually had a choice) thinking that because it's a racing car that it has to be the best. If that drive had been in this country then yes, it would have been better but the weather made it unbearable.
Sure, it's nice to have a race-car but in that situation it was the totally wrong choice.

Hammond's hair was Gay & he looked like a hippy !
Aston would have been a good choice if it was the DB9 S. Some how I always think that some things the boys do when they are dicking around on some excursion aboard is staged. Like the Aston not starting on the ferry ! How strange is it that women will now watch Top Gear, when I can remember my wife not liking any car programes, including Top Gear in the old format. Bit like what 5th Gear use to be. Now they how gone down the Top Gear road of alternative car program
