It's very different to most other monster films. The credit music at the end was very old-school monster movie music.

Today Karl was reading out loads of bits in the film that hint at the where it's come from etc. From what I've heard, I'd much more look forward to a prequel

Saw this at the weekend and loved it. Although the style was similar to Blair Witch, Cloverfield is much much better IMO - BW is one of the most overrated films I've ever seen.

I liked the way it was filmed and the fact that, right up until near the end, you only got to see glimpses of the monster. Made it much more effective as a monster movie.

It's a clever idea and it's handled very well. The concept drops the audience into chaos in much the same way as the Normandy beach in Saving Private Ryan but instead of fifteen minutes of adrenaline you get a full hour. The first person perspective makes the film as immersive as a first person shooter in places.
Part of the fun is in trying to piece things together as new snippets of information are revealed to the handicam.
Go into this film knowing as little about it as possible and you'll take the most away.

No motion sickness here.

I LOVE YOU! I hated this. Luckily I didn't pay for the ticket.

For the first twenty minutes I was sat there waiting for something, anything to happen. Seriously considered getting a fiver out and saying to the bloke who paid for us, "Thanks and here's £5 towards the £6 ticket, I'm off!".

Then the action happened so I stuck around but I still wasn't impressed at all. The acting looked more wooden than a 100% authentic replica of Noah's Ark although I will concede that Jessica Lucas was rather fine and she can come and play with my cloverfield any time.
