Modern Bond is very much old school Bond. I've been reading the early books and the current style of Bond is so much more like I'd imagine he was. They've got it spot on now. No more comedy camp Bond crap.

It's just the actors...
Boghopper was dreadful, Craig, I can't comment on too much as the Casino Royal film was an abomination unto Nuggan and I couldn't bare to watch it all the way through. He did seem rather... personalityless. The Bond closest to the books for me is still Dalton.

Flib, get with the times, bond may have changed evolved. But its still a great series, nothing stays the same forever! Casino Royale was a great piece of entertainment. |

ta.
Can't quite fit 1080p on my 20" screen and quicktime goes spacky when it's resizing from 1920x1080 to 1680x1050 and the video is really jerky.

The World is not Enough, Die Another Day and Tomorrow Never Dies were bareable - but not great. Goldeneye wasnt bad. Casino Royale just annoyed the tits off me. I really prefered the book.
I think what it mainly is that I hate this rash of ultra fast edits in a film. Just to make it seem more energetic - stop it for gods sake! Casino Royale just didn't engage me as a film. The black and white bit at the beginning was great - the chase through the building site was amusing - skill vs brute forge and ignorance. Then it went downhill. Actually - it's gone downhill since Cubby died in '96 On the plus side - Casino Royale didn't have much in the way of blatently obvious CGI though - which is thankfully heading in the right direction. Before I watch Quantum of Sillyname *it's such a Monty Python title * I will watch Casino Royale. And then maybe watch the 2006 version

Die Another Day was awful.
I don't know how you can slate CR and yet say DAD was watchable... I feel sorry for Brosnan in a way. He was my favourite Bond but he given awful awful films after Goldeneye

I am one of those odd people who thinks Lazenby was better than Moore though, and that OHMSS asn't a bad film at all. Still, Thunderball rocks.

Just shown this to Kitten on the 42" TV (it looked ace!!!) and she's suddenly announced she's so "tired" and off to bed any idea why that is, Jen?
I'm sorry Flibster but I was shaking my head through pretty much all of your posts. I know it's your opinion but I'm sorry I have to disagree. DAD was just completely awful, the world is not enough I just didn't get on with. The first 2 bond films were good as they were to far fetched. I'm sorry but if a car has tiny little cameras which project what they see on each side why on earth is the guy hiding behind the car visible to all?? I thought Dalton was an excellent Bond he's probably my favourite but I'm sorry if you rank Moore above Brosnan we'll just have to agree to disagree. Personally I think Casino Royal was an excellent vehicle to re-introduce Bond back to the masses and I think it was an excellent film. No film adaption will ever replace the book as it can never be everything to everyone and to disregard it because it isn't the same as the book is unfair.
