Currently listening to Dave Graham on Radio City. Not sure what the current track is but it's cracking. The sort of music to listen to when tidying up

I've just put together a Winamp playlist to keep me company while I post in another thread. And a few comments.

1. Billy Joel - I'm Moving Out

2. Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire. Nicely done!

3. Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell

4. AC/DC - Highway to Hell (local version is High Lane to Chell )

5. Deep Purple - Child in Time. A pub singer left his mike and amp behind and we did karaoke to this and 'Bat out of Hell' in a local pub about 20 years ago!

6. Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out. Another recent band I really like.

7. Garth Brooks - Rodeo. Reminds me of canvassing for the gas deregulation. Interesting times

8. Kansas - Carry on my Wayward Son. Long time favourite this, since I first heard it in ~'83. It was one of the handful of tunes that would have me instantly on the dance floor and headbanging at The Highwayman at Threapwood. The 'wayman was a 'night club' about 2 miles outside Cheadle on the Alton (Towers) road; and at the height of it's popularity, had bikes parked up 2 and 3 deep across the entire front of the building - all ~150' of it. Friday = Rock night, Saturday = trendy disco, and it was my regular Friday night haunt. To me, it was more of a social thing - I'd meet some friends in Cheadle, have a few beers and catch the free minibus provided by the 'wayman to ferry people from Cheadle, and spend all night wandering around chatting to all the people I saw regularly. Later there were coaches organising trips to the 'wayman on a regular basis from Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham, Macclesfield and Shrewsbury (off the top of my head.) I regularly used to have a chat to three lads from Brum who were up there every other Friday. I also met Metallica there, had a chat with, and bought Cliff Burton (bassist) a beer and embarrassed one of the Brummie lads who was playing pool with the singer (I forget his name ) by alluding to his 'OMGZitsarockstar!!!1one' attitude A friend of mine, Mike, was even more fortunate than me - as you walked out of the 'wayman doors and looked across the car park and the small field beyond, there was his back door. Jammy git! Mind you, it was only a 20 min walk back to my folks' house. No street lights on country lanes at 2 in the morning
Sadly, the site of the 'wayman and its mahoosive car park are now a small housing estate.

9. Nerina Pallot - Everyone's Gone to War. One Conor got me into while I was in hospital.

10. Kenny Loggins - Highway to the Danger Zone. Cheesy but good.

11. Loverboy - Turn Me Loose. See 8, but in ~'88.

12. Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah. Saw this band mentioned in one of Sam's posts then had a look on LimeWire to see if I like them. I'm still not sure about these :undecided: so I'm having another listen.

13. The Clash - Straight to Hell. Aaah! The parties in Wolverhampton that I used to go to. I had a lot of good friends there, friends of my best mate Rik. I lost contact with them all when he moved up here and married the ex of mine that I introduced him to.

14. Voice of the Beehive - I Think I Love You. I just like this band but I don't have 'I Walk the Earth' on the computer.

15. The Vapors - News at Ten. Their 3rd single, after 'Prisoners' and 'Turning Japanese'. Very underestimated band IMHO.

16. Stiff Little Fingers - Touch and Go. I always remember a certain night spent with a young lady whose bell I rang by mistake thinking it was an old workmate of mine. Well, it wasn't my fault, the house was now two flats, A and B. You'd expect 'A' to be the top buzzer wouldn't you? I'd hitched down Uxbridge for the funeral of the controller at the m/c dispatch company I used to work for. He'd had an accident a few years ago that had left his leg twisted -a blood clot broke loose, blocked something vital and
We went to the pub - the couple whose flat it was, another couple (the ones who got me the job as a London m/c Courier, another couple who I'd got a job there, myself and the lady from upstairs and we had a laugh and a few games of pool. While we were there the YL asked if anyone wanted to borrow the floor in her spare room, as it would be a bit less crowded than with all of us downstairs. So we went back with carry-outs, and much music, many beers and Moroccan Woodbines then ensued. While lying on the floor and chatting to this YL we were getting on famously, interesting conversations that jumped around and sparkled. After a while, I noticed that she was copying my body language and I was fairly sure that no-one had answered her earlier about the floor in the spare room, so I asked "If the offer of the spare floor is still available, I'd like to take you up on it." Btw, did I mention that she was a tall, slim, good-looking brunette who was doing post-grad Genetics at Brunel? She said "Yeah, sure" in a happy conversational tone. Then we both raised our eyes, looked each other fully in the eyes, held each others gaze, and smiled. We both knew exactly what had passed and were happy about it. Anyway, the song explains that night very well.

17. Stiff Little Fingers - Each Dollar a Bullet. I can't believe I'd not heard this most excellent track until about a month ago. And I've got one record (yes children - vinyl!) that was limited to 300 issues. I love the tune, the words and the wordplay in this one.

I know it's quite an eclectic mix - but there's a lot of different music that I like, so I just pick a tune from the HD, that makes me think of another, then another, and I just follow that train. I try to pick stuff that'll flow, not be boring and samey all the way through, but change beat and style to something that's different but complementary.

Sorry if this has gone on a bit long, I just felt in a chatty mood.

Yay someone else knows that song When it first came out I heard it on the radio and instantly liked it, made a nice refreshing change imo. Since then, I've only found one other person to know it, a guy in work who funnily enough had similar political views to me so maybe that was why we both liked it

I'm currently listening to Live Forever - Oasis. Not heard it in ages, forgot how much I like it.

I know it too Haly

I'm currently listening to the album "No Roots" by Faithless.

Booked tickets to see faithless in March in Nottingham (they have a new album out Monday). Saw them on their Greatest Hits (Forever Faithless) tour and they were bloody awesome!
