That was a corking game which I thoroughly enjoyed as well. It was really nail biting towards the end. I've had a few close games lately and a few defeats. I had a close game with Tak around the same time which I also lost on the last go - exciting stuff.

I'm going to get a Scrabble set when I get home as my daughter is coming down to visit and she enjoys a game. Anybody have any idea where I can find a really good set? Not just the "deluxe" set which is a bit naff with it's plastic tiles and racks. I'd like to find somewhere I can get a really good quality set made of hardwood or the like. Maybe I'd be better off getting one custom made. Any idea where I might commission such a thing?

Might be some shops in town that do it?

I know a friend got a carpenter friend of his to make up a board and "burn" the letters into the pieces of wood, and made the entire thing out of wood and fake ivory - it looked amazing. I'll have to see if I can find a pic of it.

I guess scouring the internet might be your best bet?

That's exactly the sort of thing I had in mind. I did have a quick look on the interweb but the bandwidth on here is even more pitiful than usual this trip and it's painful trying to do any serious searching. I'll have a good look when I get back. Will probably just get a cheap set for when my daughter visits to tide me over.

I'm assuming you posted a link to Scrabble "Deluxe"

The board is pretty good with it's raised bits around the squares to keep the tiles in place and it's ability to spin around - and then they spoiled it entirely with the cheap and tacky plastic tiles and racks. Why couldn't they do it properly and make proper, decent quality wooden tiles and racks?

I can't get my app to start, it just opens and closes even after a restart and re-downloading and installing it

The actual scrabble page says it includes "100 wooden tiles and tile racks"

I think the horrible surround with red "scrabble" badge ruin it for me.

I went old-school and got the Classic set. Original design board, wooden tiles, wooden racks. Bought the wooden turntable too. Love it.

I forgot all about this and have had a week away as well. Sorry to anyone who has been waiting forever for me to move.
