Reading this thread really makes we want to take a trip at lunchtime to the VW garage and empty my bank account. I shall try to be strong (and mildly sensible) though!

You don't want one of those I saw one in the showroom about a month ago when my dad was looking for a new car. While we were waiting I sat in one and had a fiddle, the build quality wasn't that great. Before that i liked VW, now i don't think i'll get one.
No doubt their engines are good thou, but they need a new interior desiger. |

Yes I do want one of those. Build quality on VW's is awesome (so say JD Power and my own personal experience) and although the standard interior isn't fantastic they look great with black leather and a 7" TFT for the sat nav shoved in the centre console.
The V6 in the R32 is one of the best V6's I've ever had the pleasure of red lining and coupled with a very well sorted chassis, 4 wheel drive and a fantastic engine note you end up with a car that I want. Anyway, this is all a bit OT. So then, Minis |

It's a little like the Audi TT in that respect - it's just understeeeeeeer. Anyway - had the pleasure of being taken out in a Works today at lunchtime *may had borrowed it from his brother* and I threw it around the lanes I use for getting to work. It's an interesting drive - found it a bit disconnected and had to slow down on the return journey on some of the corners as the rear of the Mini was startign to step out of line a little. Which was worrying. Still found it uncomfortable and undeniably gay. I could see people thinking "look at that lovely couple" when it was Me and Richard in the car.. Simon/~Flibster

I actually found it quite comfortable (so long as you're in the front seats), but then I have an extreme view of uncomfortable.
'Sitting' in the back of a 2CV with the rear seats removed, from Coventry to Chelmsford. Now that's uncomfortable. |

BTW if it had JCW seats I'm not suprised it was uncomfortable, they are made for very very thin people. MB |

New Mini is massively less gay than the new VW Beetle.
