They arrived today!

Must say they're pretty impressive so far - the noise cancelling feature really works well and the sounds quality is excellent. They're ideal for listening to piano music when there's noise all around - can't believe I haven't tried this sort of technology before!

So thanks for the find Mondo

On initially switching on, they seem to cut out background noise but there is a definite trace of white noise - I will leave them switched on overnight and see how they sound tomorrow.

edit: 12 hours later and there is still a faint hiss with the sound cancelling switched on. However it certainly does seem to eliminate external background noise. My initial impression is that there is a significant difference in quality / sound reproduction between these headphones and the lightweight £12 Sony MDR-W08 earphones I usually use with my MP3 player. I will have to wait and see which I prefer although I think that the Goodmans will win hands down in any noisy environment.

Okay, used them both time on the flight.

AMAZING, it doesn't block out all the noise from the plane, but enough that you can enjoy the movie. My sister was way jealous with her in flight standard ones.

Worth £50, easily.

I used to leave my headphones play white noise on repeat for 2 days. The sound afterwards was superb.

Working in London, I have been using these for the past few day while travelling on the tube.

The isolation offered by the ear cups is great and I can listen to music fine. With the sound cancelling switched on, it is even better. Either way, you can hear external sound but it isn't intrusive and most significantly, you can turn down the volume.

One thing I have noticed is that with the sound cancelling switched on, the high notes are emphasised and you seem to lose bass - certainly there is a distinct difference between the sound with the sound cancelling switched on and off.

Overall, they are certainly well worth £50 - I wouldn't be so happy if I had paid £150 - a good purchase - thanks a lot Mondo

I have some birthday money to spend and I was planning to get these, but the code has expired Don't suppose there's a more recent one?

More of a brag than a heads up. I just got one of these...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-NWZA826.../dp/B0014Z0QAY

...for £44 in-store in Farnham Sainsbury's. Reduced from £100 to £50, then 10% off because it was the last one... and a small VAT discount! Worth it just for the Bluetooth headphones tbh, which is why I got it.
