First CD I bought was Suzanne Vega 99.9F° from the imaginitively named 'CD Centre' on the day I bought my first CD player in early '93

I've even still got that CD player wired up in the living room although it never gets used.

Mid 70's? I've just been thinking as to the first vinyl I bought. I'm ashamed to say it was probably Little Jimmy Osmond "Long Haired Lover from Liverpool" in 1972. I was six!

Kaiowas, I retired my first CD player after a trip to the Science Museum a few years ago when they had the same model on display. I decided I didn't want to be using a museum piece any more!

I'm sure that's the one Raymond Baxter played a jam and coffee smeared CD in on Tomorrows World, back in 18-canteen

Yup, it was either that or Pink Floyd The Wall. Can't remember which. But it was in 1974. You've got me beat by 2 years, BTW. I was 6 in 1974..

First cassette tape album I bought was Bat Out Of Hell II, closely followed by What's The Story... and Expecting To Fly by The Bluetones.

First CD... not sure. The first singles CDs I bought were Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise and I'll Be There For You by The Rembrandts. First album might have been Smash Hits '94. Check it!:

Disc 1:
1. Sure - Take That
2. Sweetness [Radio Mix] - Michelle Gayle
3. She's Got That Vibe [Radio Edit] - R. Kelly
4. Hey Now (Girls Just Want to Have Fun) - Cyndi Lauper
5. Swamp Thing [Radio Mix] - The Grid
6. Rhythm of the Night [Rapino Brothers Radio Version] - Corona
7. Let's Get Ready to Rhumble [100% Radio Mix] - PJ & Duncan
8. Renaissance [Radio Mix] - M People
9. Confide in Me [Radio Mix] - Kylie Minogue
10. Searching - China Black

Disc 2:
1. Baby, I Love Your Way - Big Mountain
2. Don't Turn Around - Ace of Base
3. Compliments on Your Kiss - Brian & Tony Gold, Tony Gold, Red Dragon
4. You Don't Love Me (No No No) [Original Radio] - Dawn Penn
5. Sweets for My Sweet - C.J. Lewis
6. Dedicated to the One I Love - Bitty McLean
7. Shine [Beatmasters 7" Mix] - Aswad
8. Incredible - General Levy, M Beat
9. Whiggle in Line [Peking Krispy Klub Edit] - Black Duck
10. 3 Fingers in a Box [7" Radio Edit] - Twangling

Nice!

Edit: Christ, 'Bitty McLean' is not a toothpaste I'd ever choose to use.

Can't remember the first CD I bought but I can remember the first vinyl.

Kings of the Wild Frontier - Adam and the Ants (first album and first single)

Paid 75p for the single and £5.50 for the album I think it was.

Michael Jackson, HIStory: Past, Present and Future. ****ing good stuff. Worryingly i think the next thing i bought with my own money, since i never really got pocket money as a kid, my parents just bought me the odd thing now and then and i can't count that, was probably Spice Girls - Wannabe . After that pretty much i downloaded everything from there on, hit napster pretty hard as a young-un and as everyone who knows me well knows i've never really looked back!

Um, I think the first CD I bought was the single of Stardust by Menswear and the first album was probably Garbage by Garbage.
