Why? I don't agree. I know it's all scripted a little and they like to make a story or something exciting, but there have been plenty of times over the years where they've asked somebody to sing a second song of a different style to see if there's something more to their voice. I don't see why this is any different.

Because the guy clearly had a fantastic voice from singing the first song. It didn't prove anything, just added drama.
