Not a fan of the CRV - other half's dad bought one and it's good it's only used for hauling the Labrador's about as it not the most reliable of things.

Agreed on the Berlingo. My brother bought one (they have three kids). It's as ugly as sin but hugely practical - like a van with back seats.

I drove an old shape belingo every day. The seats are not good for your back

And the taller people on the company beef about them even more. Don't know what the new shape (larger) ones are like.

Just for the record I will not be buying anything based on a Citroen or a Renault van, at the moment we don't need anything huge but we do need something high off the ground, as it stand that means the QashQai is probably the best bet, they are well appointed and drive like a car, I'll have to drive this thing everyday and although I am willing to compromise on speed I am not willing to compromise on comfort.

I must have aircon, folding mirrors and cruise, I'd like bluetooth for the phone a decent sound system and maybe satnav. Bear in mind I'll be making a lot more 700 mile round trips to Wales so it MUST be comfortable

I can pick up a 2007/8 QashQai with all these things and leather for £3k on top of trading the MINI, a RAV is more expensive but adds 4x4 and a slightly bigger engine, I've also looked at the Verso but we're not having 5 kids so I don't need the space.

Volvo XC70? Too expensive and too thirsty, too big and pretending to be a lot higher off the ground than they really are.

Ford C/S-Max? Don't like them, my father has one and certainly the S-Max is too wide and the passanger and driver sit too far away from each other for my liking, they also seem to be driven by complete tools (my fathers aside) I've seem more of these driven badly then anything else recently, they are sold as a drivers SUV and blokes who would have ST220s if they could get the kids in buy them. C-Max I don't know about but I don't really like the ford styling

Have you driven a QashQai, MB? I had one as a hire car towards the end of last year and really didn't get on with it at all - there was no feedback from the steering wheel and it felt like the wheel was barely attached to the front wheels.

Coming from the Mini it'd be a massive culture shock.
