There's nothing wrong with buying new if you search for a good deal and there's plenty to be had
For example i recently got myself a 1.2 corsa, aircon, CDMP3, alloys, electric heated wing mirrors and funky stereo controls on the wheel. It should have cost around 13.5k, i ended up paying 7k which i'd wager is the first three years depreciation dealt with.

Leasing is a good idea if you shop around properly. You can often get deals that effectively wipe out the depreciation, as Streeteh said. My Mum's car has a ridiculously cheap buy price at the end of the contract comparitive to its cost now (or second hand).

I discovered a critical problem with the keyless locking/unlocking yesterday. I walked out the house, got in the car, started and drove off. It was only when I got to the bottom of the road that I realised I hadn't heard a Beep-Beep as I walked away from the house, then I remembered that I have to use a key to lock the front door
