Nope, I'm not saying they did. I'm wondering if they did when the XBL bannings started. Lots of people were trying to offload their banned console for a new one and I wonder if retailers cottoned onto that and started stricter checks.

They're banning consoles hacked to play pirated games.

OK, people with chipped or firmware changed consoles could play backup copies of games. MS have been logging information on this over a period of time and then, on a massive scale, banned all those 360's from signing in to XBL. There is NO WAY to undo this at the moment. Once you're banned, that's it for that console.

Desmo, if Game refuse to swap it out just mention the Sale of Goods Act to them. Their likely response will be that they only guarantee things for a year as that's a reasonable amount of time for it to last. When/if they say that, explain about MS extending the warranty to 3 years for all ROD problems, and they should swap it out no problems.
If that doesn't work and you're not in the mood for an argument, then the Tesco trick should work fine

I don't see how they can refuse to swap it out now, with the worldwide extension of the warranty.

If I go in on Saturday morning, I'll just breathe my beer with twigs in breath on them until they give in

No way would i accept anything less than an Instant new console. Kick off, spit your Dummy at them then if that fails just fall on the floor crying & sulking. Finally if all else fails tell them you'll set the Pikey on them & he will have 30 relatives move on to there front garden before Sunday mid day. Never fails |
