Cheese and tomato sandwich, made from grated cheese, tomato ketchup and a little finely chopped onion. These were a favourite of mine when I was at school.

People put tomato sauce on the strangest things. I only ever have it with chips and/or battered fish nowadays. Used to put it on fry-ups and in bacon sarnies until I learned that brown was superior.

I've seen people mix it into mashed potato, put it in sandwiches on its own, and on a program the other day I saw Louise Nurding (I'll never recognise her married name!) serving Jamie Redknapp a delicious stir-fry/pasta dish, onto which he commenced pouring half a bottle of the stuff. Freak!

Best one was me and my mate having a conversation after I spotted a sandwich he was eating:

Me: What's that? Corned beef with tomato sauce?
Him: Yep.
Me: Eurgh! Rank!
Him: That's what you're supposed to have it with! Why? What do you have it with?
Me: Pickle.
Him: Eurgh! Rank!
Me: That's what you're supposed to have it with!

We both learned something about tolerance that day. Happy memories.
