Okay Sidewinderinc. Here let me make things clear, my work situation is changing and I will no longer have access to emails and forums etc during my working periods, expect at break times. Hence why I said I am not allowed my notebook with me in the lab, however a few people do use mobile phones and do check things every now and then, which so far do not appear to be an issue.

This is a thread about me wanting a blackberry or a similar device and hearing what people have to say about it, especially those who have used it, own it or have experience of it. It is not a thread for people to tell me what I can have and what I cannot have you see. In other words, thank you for nothing really.

Agree with visage chumpychops all you want, it wont stop me to get it when the time for my upgrade comes.

Holy Jebus, another useless post from Sidewinder. Gosh dude, you are a child and need to grow up. Explaining things to you is pointless. Do you not have spelling mistakes to pick on, or names to call and insult to throw....oh wait, this ain't >>that<< forum. Here, I will be the bigger man and wont bother with your drivel any more.

Dude, lighten up, and if you don't mind I'd like you to edit that post - I wasn't trying to wind you up and I think you've over reacted there slightly.

I did also suggest the iPhone, or the HTC Touch as I've had a fiddle with the internet on both of those and it works fantastically, moreso on the iPhone IMHO.

My sister has just got a blackberry and it seemed useless, cluttered and completely OTT for what she needed, and the browser was diabolical.

I stop buying fake things now you see. I buy cheap one instead, or the ones I can get for free. Speaking of Blackberry, they just launched a new all touch device that the media is touting already as the "iphone killer".

Looks good I think.

It will be available free on 18months contract.

Honestly I think the latest HTC devices are idea for your needs, full qwerty kbd good Outlook integration, good as a phone and for email and surfing and can be customised and have 100s of software applications added

Same as MB. HTC edges it over the iPhone for email for me (especially the HTC models with a real keyboard), and the Blackberry really is primarily a business tool.

Calling anything an 'iphone killer' is the sort of thing El Reg does for sport. It has no meaning in reality - all phones have their good and bad - just some have a lot more of one or the other.

Yeah, a few devices have been called "iPhone killers" already and none of them fit the description.

Personally I think a Blackberry is overkill for home email. As a business tool it's essential for me and I'd not be without my 8310 but for my home mail, no thanks. I'd rather use my iPhone which is also great for many other things.

I said in my first post in this thread that the Blackberry has a crap browser, that's been repeated by others in here and I don't know anyone at work who has a BB who would describe it as any good.

In the end, it's your call.
