He's surely breaking the terms of his lease? Not that you should drop him in it, but someone (like the management company or however it works up there) will notice eventually?

My neighbour put up a 6ft fence today without telling me he was going to do it.

I don't find the fence going up annoying, I'm glad that there is now no risk of their dog jumping over my fence. What I do find annoying is the fact that he didn't mention it, even yesterday when he was out in his garden and I was out in mine.

First thing I knew about it was when I was sat half asleep in the bath at 7am and the whole bathroom started to vibrate.

If he's a tenant then he can't go around making changes like that?

Even as an owner I have to run stuff like that past my management company!

Even as an owner, my lease has lovely clauses like I'm not supposed to shake a rug out of any window, nor maim any walls, ooh and I must clean the windows as often as is necessary.

So yeah, fitting double glazed windows in a listed building would definitely be a no no

No managment company or leaseholder to worry about. But you can can get fined massively if you make changes which the council/historic scotland find out about. You need to get consent before hand.

Clean your own windows?! Thankfully I don't have to do that...

Perhaps you should do it now seeing as you are still on your happy homeowner honeymoon!

I find it bizarre to own a property & have a lease listing demands like where you can shake your rugs too? My land is my land, I'll do what I bloody well like!

I couldn't own a property as leasehold, no matter how long the lease, because you can be pulled into so many conditions.
Also sometimes the fees you have to pay per year for land charges can be insane, my friend had to pay £2k a year in fees on his flat before he moved.

Even freehold on listed buildings is something I'd have to think long and hard about.

Thankfully there are no charges involved in my lease. It's a criss cross lease. I'm the landlord of the flat upstairs and they are mine.

My solicitor did say when I was buying the place that they must have got the anal book of lease clauses out when they did mine.

I too Kitten, will shake my bloody rug wherever and whenever I bloody well want

And now im off to clean some windows, just in case
