Mum and Dad fetched ours on Friday and I brought it home yesterday. It's not decorated yet, but we've put it up and are letting it settle before we put the lights on tonight. I've put a test decoration at the bottom to see how Flo reacts and the tree was still upright this morning. We'll see if she can manage to leave it alone today! Our tree usually goes up around the first week in December and comes down before 12th night.

Maybe it's because Christmas lost it's magic for me about 15 years ago so I don't feel the "Christmas spirit" any more. So just as you don't get people who are stroppy about it, I just don't get people who put the tree and decs up the moment it becomes the 1st of December (or before for that matter). If you stick with the 12 days tradition the decs are still up for 25 days, would have thought that was enough for anyone myself
If we're being properly traditional they're supposed to go up xmas eve.

I think I was just brought up putting the decorations up quite late as we always had a real tree and my parents didn't want it dropping needles everywhere so we used to put it up the weekend before xmas. Now that everyone has plastic trees and the shops are decorating as soon as they're done with Halloween I just like to try not to cave in to this modern idea that xmas lasts the whole of December and try to hold out until halfway through the month.

In contrast my grandad would leave the house decorated all year 'round as he couldn't be bothered taking them down

I know, I was more on about the tradition in my house. It's still generally used by a lot of people though

I was of the opinion that the 12 day thing was Christian, so obviously I wouldn't follow that anyway.

Christmas on the whole might be a bit tricky to do then

I just follow family tradition, and I have no doubt all families have different traditions Whatever makes you happy, live and let live and all that.

I had the pleasure of spending 30 minutes in the freezing cold yesterday waiting for Klara to choose a tree. Now sitting in the corner of the room waiting for her to decorate it on Friday. It's really strange having Christmas tree with no decorations.
