How is it for save points / saves in general as having the 2 girls makes long sessions problematic.
Save points are very, very common in this game. I'd say that you're never more than 10 mins from one if you need to quickly save and quit.

Just fought

the boss at the end of Chapter 9.

End Spoiler Alert!
Wow that was exhilarating

FFXIII might be flawed but it really knows how to do satisfying boss fights.

I've only put an hour in and people weren't joking about the linearity but I forgive it because it's probably the best looking (I know it's CG but don't care) game I've seen...

The linearity dies in the endgame, the storyline is a massive corridor though sadly. Such a shame since FF has always been about the story for me, it looks like after FFX that ideal died.

I mean, ffs, it has an endgame? All of the energy of the devs should be poured into the storyline of an FF game, it shouldn't even HAVE an endgame. It's just all wrong.

it's near enough all the same stuff that has been in every other FF game, except this time instead of having a save just before the last boss, you can come out after it and redo all the extra stuff that's always been there.

Not imo it's not. The majority of the content is in 'that' area, the storyline only takes 1/3rd of the time it takes to '100%' the game. I'd completed the story after 35 hours and that was with an hour or so of farming, that's far less than any final fantasy before it. I've now spent 20 hours in the 'end game' content and i've not even scratched the surface yet.

They've put far more effort into the sidequests etc in this game than previous, it also feels like far less has been put into the story (but then FFXII felt the same)
