With the exception of "Space:Above and Beyond" I'd agree with you.
Both are fantastic and both had a less than smooth ride throughout their productions.

Too sophis for those darn 'merkins.

At it's best B5 was brilliant(And now for a word, The corps is mother, the corps is father, And the sky full of stars) but at it's worst(Grey 17 is missing, A late delivery from Avalon) it made Blakes 7 look like 2001.
More good than bad overall though.
For consistent sci-fi awesomeness new BSG is setting the new benchmark though.

TBH BSG lost it after the first few episodes of S3. Its been really hit n miss in S4. Seems to be slowly dragging its heels, which is a damn shame because the first 2 seasons were great.

I never got into BSG. Most likely due to missing the first few episodes, and that in turn most likely to not wanting to be disappointed having watched the original. If they ever re-run from the start I might try and watch.

Pete - Yeah S3 was iffy in places but still got it's feet back under it enough to reach a great finale. Not seen any of Season 4 yet.

Mark - Start with the mini series and after that you'll be hooked. I can practically guarantee it. Gaius Baltar is just about the greatest TV character ever.

Oh aye S3 finale was fantastic. I've seen all of S4 thats been aired and well I'm just annoyed really. I expected the final season to be tighter but it still seems like they're having to write an entire season of waffle to explain the ending.

To be honest S5 was a complete let down for me after seasons 3 & 4.

Going to watch the lost tales in the next few days, should be good.

Are you back on B5 now?

Yeah, S5 was a bit random. JMS had planned out five seasons but when the studio execs loomed proclaiming their doom and gloom (as they do) S5 got squashed into the last few episodes of S4 and then the renewal happened and (bar the finale) there was no material.

As for BSG, it'll have to be re-televised for me to see it. Buying an unknown seems unlikely and downloading seems iffy.

What about a rental?
Most DVD rental .coms have free trial periods.
