I can understand you want to escape, but don't go to Canada because you want to escape. Go because you want to go and because Canada rocks, and most of all enjoy yourself. Also, as a suggestion, take the camera of course but maybe forget about photography for a day or two while out there and see where that takes you - and I do mean forget - no regrets over missed shots.
PS - Random fact. Toronto has a rather large St. Patrick's day parade. Not as big as NY but still very big. Dunno when you're going so this information may or may not be useful. |

Yeah, I get that of course, but from carrying a camera everywhere myself I've discovered that I have missed stuff if I'm worried more about the photography than just enjoying the moment, so yes, sometimes I do now leave the camera behind even on holiday - particularly if I'm just staying local or going to an area I've already been with camera.

If Edinburgh was anything to go by i think he'll be just fine about taking an actual proper break (seems the camera isn't surgically attached after all)

I'd travel as much as possible I think So many places I'd love to see before I'm 30. I'd want to go more obscure places than regular touristy places.
I'm a bit strange though, I realllllllllllllllly want to go to Iraq one day. Hoping eventually the problems there will die down. And hopefully by then they won't have destroyed all the amazing architecture there either I'm not sure how much you've travelled though so not sure how relevant it is for you.

I dont "get" the whole premise of needing to have done something by such a birthday. You've acknowledged you want to inject some pace into the proceedings so just get it done rather than stressing about doing it all before you hit an irrelevant number.
Stop being scared of the outcome of things and just do it. I understand you have to look after your parents and things like that but you shouldn't let that stand in the way of enjoying your life! Your photography gives you a far more flexible life than most people have so use that to your advantage! |

Do a skydive!!!
Go swimming with sharks. Or dolphins. Or go on a whale spotting trip. All three are really a lot more exciting that you'd think. And with your photography skills it would probably make it even better. Go on a safari.... Go somewhere totally random, like Thailand, or Kenya or something like that...
