As the first sprint is on MoD property, we need to buy spectator tickets in advance, and we also need to tell them the names of the ticket holders. Can anyone who is interested *looks at Zirax... please let me know their names by the end of Weds.

If you aren't a total definite, don't worry as I think we can get names changed up to about a week before.

Ta!

Just got home from work. I felt this need to come check this thread Yep count me in.

Are you going for dash out and door card removal as well? One thing you haven't mentioned is the speakers, are these in the doors.

Nope, all that came out the dash is the glovebox. We decided to be wusses and leave the heater in

There is some kind of rule about the door cars that the door and window mechanisms need to be hidden, so it's really pointless to remove the cards as we'd have to make some kind of cover for them! I think by the end of the series we might have done this but it's not a priority for the first event.

The speakers are on the dash, so I might take them out next weekend!!

Stick me down for 2:
Paul O'Donovan
Klara Gajdosova

Can't be sure of attendance but for £7 I'll happily cough up and take the risk.

What time does it start/finish? Can recommend a few nice pubs in Cambridge & surrounding areas if people want to do lunch/dinner.

Vix, what is the format for the day? How many runs do you get to do and roughly how long is each run?

Don't know exact times but it's a full day. Don't think we'll be leaving the venue for lunch but going somewhere afterwards could be doable. (Vix likes Cambridge anyway)

Format is basically 2/3 practise runs in the morning then about the same number of timed runs in the afternoon. Exact numbers of runs will depend on how many competitors there are and how slick the organisers get at putting people through. Each run will be about a minute or so.

Suddenly sounds like crap value for money when you compare the amount of time behind the wheel to a track day but I like the element of competition, even if it is only trying to beat your own time.

I think food afterwards sounds like a great idea! Bring picnics for lunch

Thanks everyone for your support *hugs*

This is why I stopped doing sprints in my Elise. Used to take park in the SELOC spring series at North Weald and that was £50 for six 1 minute runs. While it was fun I was always in the middle of group on my own (too good to compete with the bottom 3 and never good enough to compete with the top 2). On the other hand I could do an Activity day at the same airfield for £20 and easily get 20-30 minutes of "track" time. I'm personally not convinced that Sprinting is very good value though if you are looking for the competitive edge it's certainly the cheapest and easiest way to start.
