I was under the impression that what we saw was what they taped. Unedited footage. It was clearly over the entire night but I'm guessing they did stop it now and then.

Of course it was edited!

We never saw any of them visit the toilet and you can guarantee at least one of them soiled his(or her) underwear

Sure sure. So of course you'd keep the camera rolling to document your epic wee wee while a monster destroyed NY? Now I'm quite surprised that no-ones questioned why the movie was in 5.1 when it was captured on a cheap digital camcorder which probably recorded in stereo.

Just watched this tonight and I enjoyed it and considering it was done by JJ Abrams I'm surprised we saw as much of the "monster" as we did

watched this last night - not sure if it was because it was on the tv in the living room and people were talking over it, but this really didn't grab me
it was pretty scary (but then i find anything mildly frightening stops me sleeping for weeks) but it wasn't that engaging

Wish I'd never watched it tbh. I sat through the whole film wondering when it would end, in fact I ended up browsing the net while it was on. I started watching it with an open mind and finished it yawning. Doubtful I'll watch it again.
