Yep, stepping outside is always the worse bit. I still think "urgh" before running club on a dark, cold night but once I'm there I love it... unless we're doing hill work

My local running club twice a week and then on my own the rest of the time. It gives some structure to my training and the social side is really nice too, considering I don't have many mates who live in the area

Inspired after all of Pickmeisters efforts, I went for a run tonight - first time in AGES!

I think... I picked a silly night to start though! I was going to do the whole "60 seconds running, 90 seconds walking" thing but half way through my first 90 seconds of walking it absolutely bucketed down.

Like... properly bucketing!

So... I jogged all the way! Not fast or anything, more like that kind of jog type skip you do when you cross the road and realise you may get caught by the on coming bus if you don't pick up your toesies! But it was a 20min sesh which I was kind of proud of - I used to pass out after 8minutes ages ago! lol

Was a tad stitchy by the time I got in but all in all okay and recovered very quickly (I remembered this from when I last used to run... out running once I started to wear I would go down hill rapidly but as soon as I stopped for a few minutes I could do it all over again. Weird.)

Despite drowning and having all my clothes pasted to me by the time I got home, I actually enjoyed it! I forgot how much I like running in the rain! I have to admit I don't LOVE running but yeh... Had been having a pretty crud day up until then and the run seemed to sort it out. Lots of tension just gone by the time I got home and stretched So will be keeping this up until I can at least afford me some local dance classes (I'm so excited... they look awesome!) If I continue to like it then will continue to do it! I just... get bored easily which makes me feeeeeeel the pain! Unlike team sporty things

*is a tad soft legged but happy*

Well done girly. You've discovered the secret of being able to maintain a pace without even knowing it. Keep it slow and you'll be able to run further. Distance before speed Glad you enjoyed anyway. I also find it's a great release from any kind of stress or tension. It all goes out the window when I'm running along

15.7 mile cross country race for me on Saturday. The weather will be horrendous, but I'm doing it with a cracking bunch of people from the club. We're not aiming for speed at all. We just want a bit of a laugh really and they do CAKES at the refreshments stops, which was our main reason for signing up. Just hope the indigestion isn't too bad

Good luck! (I reckon I might just about manage a third of that before collapsing in a heap)

Nice one Kate.. It'll be 4 month until i can start running again.

I'm sure you have already as I've not read all the posts in this thread but please make sure you get a gait analysis profile done and wear 'proper' running trainers to suit. Most decent sports shots can do this and some are free. Runners World in Chelmsforsd do I know. Otherwise, in years to come, you're knees will suffer the same fate as mine.
