Sounds pretty positive XNA stuff certainly sounds interesting and it'll be nice to be able to find DLC easily for games instead of having to hunt through the marketplace.
It's just the avatars I'm a bit unsure of really but it doesn't look too intrusive.

Yeah, so long as I can safely ignore them when the novelty wears off I dont really mind. Something fun to play around with if the mood takes me but I dont want him waving at me from my games library etc
[edit] http://feeds.gawker.com/~r/kotaku/fu...r-a-short-ride Quick video. Only just noticed that the Y button on the tray is game details - which presumably brings up all videos/downloads/achievements/screenshots etc... splendid. Best video I've seen so far, it looks very swish.

Nice
Was just reading through my RSS feed and found something impressive. There's a guest blogger at wired.com with cerebral palsy who plays all his games one handed, most notably Ninja Gaiden 2 I'm impressed, he's doing better than me with NG2! Interesting article nonetheless http://blog.wired.com/games/2008/10/...editorial.html

The avatars do look fun and for me it's going to be a case of setup him up and leave it at that I don't see myself changing appearance or anything very often but is good to be able to do it when needed.
It'll be fun have us all together especially with the MP gears 2 games

The new friends list, while a bit cutesy perhaps, looks very interesting to me. I can see what they're going for - imagine going to a friends list, 'literally' seeing a bunch of you guys in a party stood next to a GoW2 logo waving at me, and being able to push a button to get involved. It's almost social.

Yep. The negative views are coming from people that haven't looked at all the avenues possible from the addition. Having your friends all huddling around the game logo it a great idea.

I wonder how far the avatars will go? Costumes from games perhaps? Halo suit? Schoolgirl outfits from the latest Japanese beat em up? Ryu suit? Guitar Hero stuff? I'd guess that there is potential there for inexpensive addons.

I'd put good money on their being outfits Halo/Gears style Hopefully these won't have to be purchased but the scope for their is pretty much unlimited.
