I can't remember the last time I ever went to the kitchen and got bread out. The only time I use milk is for milkshakes

If the world were full of me.. the shops would be out of Coke, Chocolate, and possible Rustlers burgers...

As people will have seen on my Facebook/Twitter, my school has officially closed for the rest of the week. Considering how icy it's now becoming I'm not surprised, there's not enough grit in our school to clear it all, so we just have to hope the weather improves to clear it all over the weekend. You won't find me complaining though, a free week off work \o/

Flour (700g), butter (35g), water (420ml), yeast (8ml), sugar (15ml), salt (8ml) Sorted. Well, milk is a little harder.

Looks like no snow overnight but it's reporting a temp of -7C with wind chill to -12C so a risk of ice.

Still no buses in Portsmouth due to roads being solid ice. Have text my manager to tell her - Mic has offered to try and drive me in but not sure if I'll even let him try.

It was an interesting day yesterday, no extra snow until 06:25 when the skies opened. I left at 06:30 and the roads were already covered. There are some temp traffic lights in the village and in the time it took for the lights to go from red to green, the tracks from the car in front had vanished. I called the boss (who I car share with) and he was incredulous as there was none in Colchester at all.

The first roundabout I came to, I nearly lost it and I was doing just 12 mph. At the second one I was more cautious and slower and the back end just kept going and I ended up nose into the roundabout itself. I was doing 7 mph.

It took me nearly an hour to get to Colchester, the snow followed me. Once we hit the A12 it was fine and we made it to work on time.

It snowed pretty much all day, we had an announcement that those who lived a distance away could leave early but I had far too much to do so didn't get away until about half past five.

It was perhaps the best journey out of work we've ever had! Brentwood was clear of traffic, the A12 was empty and Colchester was totally devoid of vehicles. I reckon that most of the country had gone home early. The magic roundabout in Colchester had one car on it. Me.

Heading back this was wasn't so good. Going up the hill along the dual carriageway out of Colchester was poor, only one lane was clear and the other was completely snow covered. It was the same all the way back home and there's still 3-4 inches of frozen snow outside here. It's -5.4 at the moment, the lowest I've ever seen here.

The outpipes from our basin and bath upstairs were frozen this morning, I've treated them with warm water and they're now clear.

I'm not leaving to go to work just yet, I'm going to wait until it's warmed up a bit. The main roads were crap yesterday and with this low temperature they're going to be skating rinks.

Im going to try and get to work this morning, Mum made it to the local health centre (she had to try and get to her nearest one for work) so I know the roads were passable yesterday, and once I get to the main road they will have gritted it, so I shall just take it steady.

Well manager has said only to head in if it is safe so I'm sat here waiting for the buses to update their service status. When/if I do go to work, I'll be taking it as a casual day as there is no way I'm going outside in anything less that a dozen layers of clothing

Going to walk back up the hill in a bit to the car and see whats what. Gf has been told to make it in for normal time. Big question is do I attempt to drive there or get the train and then spend an hour walking across town on ice. Not entirely sure which is safer. I thought the roads were getting better last night as I walked to the station. I walked in the road as it was safer than the pavement. However roads I walked in are now closed according to traffic info. Thats a little odd and worrying. To get to mine I have to go up a hill so I have to hope its been gritted. Apparently major roads have been gritted and mine imho is major but who knows.

I've given up and accepted the snow. Set my alarm to go in but I can see from the window that the snow is higher on the tires than yesterday so why bother. I'll see if I can borrow a shovel again later on to try and remove all the snow around my car, then if it doesn't come down heavy again today I've got half a chance of making it tomorrow.

I'm staying at home today. Whilst there is very little snow here I'm told that near to the office it is very heavy. I don't know if the office has actually been closed or not but my lot have been instructed to work from home.
