Much more organised than me I just carry everything around with me at all times then panic when I'm encumbered and throw stuff away

Heh, inbetween missions I always head home and dump various weapons, armours and items back at my house. You never know when you'll need a certain weapon, especially to repair a new unique weapon you may find

In my house in Megaton the locker on the right of the Workbench was for 'Misc' items, the one on the right of the Bobblehead stand was for 'Weapons', the fridge was for 'Aid' and the drawers in the bedroom was for 'Apparel'.
Always emptied my inventory, then re-filled it with exactly what I needed for the next quest. It's how I managed despite not being able to carry much. Uber-organized . Ended up with crazy numbers like 5 Fat Men, 8 Laser Rifles, 4 Plasma Rifles, 12 Chinese Assault Rifles and 8 Combat Shotguns. Something like that. Meant that I could sell them for SO much money whilst cherry picking the best quality ones for myself . |

I've got 100 repair skill so the spare weapons in my cupboard are always full quality so if I sell them I always get top dollar for them

What level and where are you? I've never had any problems with ammo or stimpaks in the game whatsoever.

Level 4 or 5, hit up the school en route to Megaton & just dealt with the sooper-dooper mart for Moira.
Tried looking for the 'family' earlier & got conered by molerats with nothing but a baseball bat to my name

Do the Minefield quest for Moira, as you can sneak through the town and pick up about 30+ mines (so make sure you have the carry space), which you can trade to Moira for ammo. There's only 1 enemy in the town as well, at the far end with a sniper rifle, and he's easy to kill if you work your way to him slowly.

I picked up the perk that increases your chance of finding ammo, as I was always running out of the stuff.
About half way through the game I was drowning in ammo and every time a vendor had money I would sell off a few hundred rounds of ammo. Shame I had nothing to spend my fortune on |
