Was out last night where I decided that the biggest hill I could find would be a fun challenge

I'm now not sure fun was the right word but I felt great and had racked up 1hr 5mins out hitting the streets

It would have been a lot longer run, but I thought I'd lost my back door key about 3/4 of the way around and found myself really REALLY upping the pace home from that point

Nice to know I could do that though anyway!

Thats mighty impressive Jingo! I've not yet managed such a long run, but hope to over half term! My long(ger) runs have felt great, and the feeling lasts late into the evening too!

Yeah, you get a really big kick out of a nice long run. I'll be plodding for 16 miles at the weekend if the snow holds off... or maybe even if it doesn't

Brilliant run though Jingo, well done. You're getting back into this really quickly Pickers = HALF MARATHON!!! DO IT!

Pickers, perhaps if you ran slower then you would be able to go further! It's all about running time, not running speed for me!

Try running really slow - no matter who's looking etc I find I then naturally pick up the pace as I find it easier later into the run

Plus if you have races/events to do then it's perfect inspiration etc

lol @ me handing out running advice! I'm still a jogger and haven't been a runner for years!

I've found a nice slow comfortable pace for me - its just finding the time
My last long one was about 50 mins nice easy pace, then 13 mins toward the end up to my "short run" pace, then the last minuture or two on the home stretch was a full on sprint. I feel as though I can maintain the slower pace for much longer, so this I shall try

I already told him a million times to slow down. I think it might have sunk in eventually

I really REALLY didn't want to go out last night but knew I would face times like this at some point.... so decided to ignore such feelings and go anyway!

I had evening plans so just went out for a recommended four-and-a-bit-miler I found on the mapmyrun site- it was bloody horrible as the wind was so strong I felt it really sapped my energy but I just dug in and grimaced

I'm really not into working out minutespermile etc but as I knew the route distance already I was pleased to have done 4.3miles in 37 minutes; I am normally MUCH slower but I think not wanting to be out there and having a gig to go to got those legs going!

How is your VLM training coming along Lostkat? And did you go at any slower pace last night Pickers? ()

What events/races does anybody have coming up in the near future? I have Lincoln in mid-march and are looking for as many as I can feasibly manage this year - 5k, 10k and possibly halfs are on the cards (fundraising again you see )

Theres a distinct lack of mention of socks in your post Jingo.

Well done for your running though! Good stuff
