We have mandatory holidays at Christmas because the school is shut, but they make us take it out of our allowance, costing me 5 days holiday this year :/

Including today, 7 more days of work. Finish on the 23rd but they expect us back on January 2nd. We'll be the only company in this industry at work that day, plus it's a Friday. Might roll in on Monday the 5th instead

Same here Davey, we have mandatory holiday between xmas and new year which comes out of our allowance. (usually works out at 2.5 days although this year it's 3).
What gets really awkward is that Lotus have a habit of then giving their staff extra holiday as a result of their annual pay and conditions negotiations (for example this year they've got xmas eve and 2nd Jan extra) but we don't get that holiday so we've got a choice between booking those days out of our allowance or coming into work to support a client who isn't here (usually means we end up doing out own internal organisation type stuff which doesn't get done during the year or tidying the office etc, or playing games...) Works fine for those in the main IT office but I'm out in one of the client offices so if I come in I end up literally sitting here by myself so I tend to take those days off too. I was determined to take the 2nd off anyway as we only do a half day friday, I sure as hell wasn't coming in just for a friday morning! |

I would've had to take 7 days holiday if I wasn't working on Thursday and Friday this week. The school breaks up on Wednesday afternoon, but it's still open all week. Thankfully Thursday and Friday should be exceptionally quiet, and we'll likely be kicked out nice and early on Friday

Minimum of 32 hours left to work, I say minimum as I will undoubtedly have to do more to make sure everything is sorted before xmas. As it is that 32 includes 4 hours of overtime.
