You should try one of the helicopter alarms... the ones that fly off of the base, and the base won't shut up until you find the copter and return it to base!! They are relatively cheap too

The alarm on my phone asks me to solve mathematical problems before I can kill it, seems to work. My maths first thing in the morning is terrible though!

Be nice if this tool worked on my touch.

Do you normally go to bed with a hammer to hand?

Trust me, you'd need a crane to knock that thing over, it's mahoosive.

Jen, have you got a full memory foam mattress? It'll still work with a topper.

Yup, full one

On the plus side, it is amazingly comfy......and probably encourages me to stay in bed for too long

I'll sell you one for £55 if that'll help?

I spent over £100 on a sunlight alarm clock a couple of years ago. Absolute ****. I could have made a better quality contraption using a regular clock radio, a torch and a fishbowl.

Sound crapped out on the speaker eventually so it wasn't even good for the gentle sounds of waves crashing on a beach or tropical rainstorms that came with it. In fact, that was the only good thing about it and I still have the mp3s somewhere.

Let's put it this way - I'd be more likely to be able to find the hammer than the helicopter. Failing that, there's always flying lessons - seems appropriate for a helicopter.

Kitten - I'll give the iPhone some more chance to do its thing. Speaking of which, I'm off to bed.

Very good this morning. I was pretty much awake, reached over to see what the time was and it started playing a nice tune at me. That was five minutes before alarm time.

I feel much better today, I actually feel as though I had a good kip last night.
