When I went out in it last night I realised it's actually about 5" thick here but down at my parents it's around 7" deep. Don't think we've had more since but it's so cold it's not melting yet either. Very icy out and very cold.

Glad I decided to drive last night though - mate of mine got stuck in toen for 2 hours trying to get a taxi and in the end had to get someone to go pick her up

I'm still getting backlash from those 2 days off!

Can anyone find me a site that will show the official amount of snow call in both Portsmouth and Newcastle please?

If I get this wrong, I'm giving my meteorology qualifications back.

I very much doubt you'll find anything from the Met Office. They charge for data like this, and it's horrendous to calculate at a local level. A lot of snow measurements are actually records as precipitation, so that ruins the numbers. The type of snow, temperature, wind speed and humidity also need to be taken into account too, as each will change how much snow we get, in different areas. It's not as simple as sticking a ruler in the snow and writing the depth down.

If there is any site that says the depth/amount, I'd be questioning the accuracy.

Did you take any pictures? You could just show it to your Boss and then ask if he'd like them rolled up and shoved up somewhere too? Just a thought.

You'd probably want to see if any local rags have any numbers then. I can search the Newbury Weekly News website for old articles and found "40 centimetres in places", and Newbury isn't as big or mighty as your places.

There were 3-4 inches of snow on the racecourse this morning if that's any help.

What Goose said.

Light covering this morning, but ice was the real problem, so I had to break out the wallet and get a taxi. I'm currently trying to walk whenever possible, or bus when not.
