My system is stripped for gaming. Desktop is plain blue & i have no screensaver it just goes black.

Not so much the wallpaper it's all the other guff that goes on in the background like MS data grabbing, pretty lights, tricks & bits. I've stripped out my windows to bare bones with minimal services,processes & progs.
It's a head thing and keeps me competitive, i can't have anything else to worry about whilst i am killing.

You ought to knock up a quick guide, Pikey as to what you've turned off and removed from Windows if you've got the time and the inclination. Be interested to see that.

Black Viper sucks and posts any tip he can get his hands on whether tested or not by him personally, Whatever you do DON'T try his Vista tweaks.
Bit harsh that as a year or so ago he was the man but it seems recently he hasn't as much time to fully test his tweaks.
Mine are mine alone and fully tested by me, having to budget and run a system to compete with the latest systems i have gradually worked my way through numerous pages on sites then tested them myself. Even though my system is dated i am usually first on a 64 man BF2 map with pings lower than 20. When i used to play source my pings were below 10 and usually around 4 believe it or not. Constantly got kicked for hacking or rates by crap players with crap set ups though, Pfffff.

Doing a guide would be really hard but when i am bored i will try.

Hehe - I found this thread while looking for something else. My desktop background is usually one of my pics that is special to me and that I like to look at, so probably wouldn't mean a great deal to anyone else.
