Er is this a bad time/thread to say "FNARR!"?
Can't wait till I'm back in Manchester! As for the OcUK thread a thread on women either sexy or not is always going to be hot potatoes or whatever the saying is. Just ignore the morons who post moronic comments. |

The world is a cruel place. People are judgemental and can be nasty. It's human nature. At the same time we can be the most incredible caring and empathic beings too. However we are all so different people are just not going to see eye to eye. Now personally I don't find her attractive at all, however I have dates some curvy girls not too dissimilar to her (though maybe more built than slightly flabby) who were dynamite to look at because they were pretty, and their confidence and humour/personality oozed from the way they held themselves and despite not being bikini-bodied they did look stunning in the right clothing.
We don't know anything about this woman, and I fear personally that it is a PR stunt, but I'm happy to sit here and say good on her and she's got cojones - well not really - at least I hope not! However, I don't think in spite of a vibrant gregarious personality she would win Miss England as she doesn't really tick enough boxes. Let's face it there is a fairly generic tick box that most men/women have - well if not conscious at least subconscious - ultimately I agree a strong matching personality will always win, however you would be ignorant and daft to put aside the physical attraction side of things. The "fat pig" comments are unkind, and it's laudable that people are defending her / attacking the aggressive scrotes on OcUK - however, I've been known to be offensive about people so I'm a bit of a hypocrite - and in spite of their comments as aggressive as they are it's easier to say something strong and punchy which relates to your feelings compared to something more wishy washy (but kinder) like "I find her very unattractive and think that frankly <insert blurb>" . However on a public forum with the relative anonymity one gets it's easy to be brazen with little repercussions. To people's faces or behind their backs and around people I care or even around people I don't know I try to be sensitive and attentive not to offend people's feelings etc... However, I am rather aggressive towards people who don't look after themselves and demand pity etc... as I am towards other issues which are nothing to do with bodysize etc... Remember a lot of people there like to stir a reaction, speak just for the sake of speaking and it's not for anyone to take personally - whilst it's an admirable quality you're not doing yourself any good and well, she can't hear you. Why any of you would start to feel self conscious about comments made towards someone like that girl is silly. Remember she may be a bit overweight but her face mings, none of you have either problem in my eyes and I'd hit all of you in case you were wondering. Seriously though, don't be wound up by other people's overly aggressive use of language. I try very hard not to towards the Israelis so in that respect I have the same issue I can't help but be personally affected by it. IT's irrational and uncontrollable. Please don't any of you become self conscious or worry about the comments there. They do not represent the whole of the male population - it's a forum, people can be aggressive and get away with it. Listen to your friends as friends > *.

i've not read the thread over there, but i did see the report in the news and have seen her pictures.
i can see why people don't find her attractive, but only in the same way i can understand why some people don't like the way size 0 models look. i agree that there are is no need for offensive comments (like i say, i haven't seen the thread), but people DO have different tastes in women, which they shouldn't need to explain / apologize for. |

Will speaks sense.
I think the overriding problem which has illicited many of the negative responses is the fact that that girl is not attractive and that bikini photograph is exceptionally unflattering. Her face looks horrible as does her body, that photographer did her no favours at all, nor did the horrific amounts of jpeg compression. Many larger girls can look fantastic and it's not something that's ever really bothered me at all. That particular girl however, is not an example of an attractive larger woman and the situation is only made all the worse by the fact she's competing in a pageant that largely focuses on her looks.

I don't think anyone is in any doubt that people have different taste but calling some one a pig or a pasty lover because they aren't conforming to the normal expectations for a bikini model isn't about what you find attractive its about being a tosser. Its typical male dominated forum banter and I don't really expect more from a lot of the OcUK membership, in fact I'm quite surprised by the level of intelligent debate it has raised and proud of the members here (who are also my friends) in how they have reacted to it. What concerns me is what does the future hold when so many of our young men find women who are over a size 8 and don't look like glamor models quite so hideous, the human race may be doomed MB |
