I'll sum this up and best as I can & just hope you guys understand.
The job itself is basically just going out back grabbing a cage out of our section fridge & then dragging out front & finding where it goes & if there is any room, Also we do this thing called facing off where we bring the back(old) stuff to the front then restock the back bit of the shelf. As you can imagine it's a rince & repeat thing so you are just left to get on with it.
Not many customers about so you just plod on.

As you all know I went in all buzzing & happy & expected to have a honeymoon period of happyness for at least a week, Well the other employees killed it by around 4am & I had to say summit around 5am.
The woman I was put with spoke like she wanted a fight rather than being nice & sociable. Same with All the employees, They wasn't as angry as the woman with me but they were All slagging the place off constantly & on a right downer
So after around 5 hours of this I lost my smile & chirpyness & just went in to myself. My manager noticed & asked me what's up, I said "Well mate I've been out of work for ages now & was chuffed to bits to get the call, Unfortunetly though it seems like I am the only person happy to be here & that has took the dairy off it for me which is Crap."
I then asked him if the other employees were always like this, He asked me what I meant & I told him in a real polite way that I was a bit dissapointed in Grim atmosphere. He reckons that the last couple of days have been terrible & just ignore the miserable/mardy ones.
I just said to him Well it's my first day, I was buzzing when I got here & now I feel like I have been here 6 months, I'm Gutted.

About ten minutes later & all of a sudden Everybody got Chirpy & Smiley & Chatty
They had obviously spread the word & in my Honest opinion felt Bloody Guilty.
The woman with me was like Oh the last couple of days bla bla bla, It'l get a lot better, We are not normally like this etc etc etc Moan about Tescos there jobs whinge moan moan moan.

I switched off & did my job & prayed for 7 o clock so I could come home to my nice Frank staffy dog.

One things for sure Anybody that works with me from this Second onwards will be made to feel comfortable & Welcomed with open arms, Especially when that person will be the person helping to make my job easier, Bastards.

Aww Hope it picks up.
Jobs like that really are much better if you get on with the people, crucial element imo. Atmospheres like that suck. I've done some incredibly dull jobs and had many days where I'd rather not be in because I've felt so fed up (especially lately!) but I still manage to put on a good act so I don't bring anyone else down. Hopefully you just caught them on a particularly bad day and they'll improve.

It's my only hope mate as I am a people person & very sensitive to atmospheres, It really did bring me down
There are no customers about at all & plenty of room for banter as we pass each otehr or are in the same section.
Instead all you get every single time you meet anybody is them scowling & moaning about whatever

There is definately something wrong going on about the place, The store has been open 3 weeks, They under estimated the amount of Trade so are very under staffed, They over ordered produce & have all the xmas stuff comiing in, The place is Chaos, Packed out with stock that hasn't really any place to go & the staff are all completly ******* off

I did nigh on 5 hours of Induction yesterday & then went & done a night shift so Yes I was knackered by around 4am. The job is twice as hard at the mo as I don't know where anything is at all. I am not put off just dissapointed that it will be an effort to have a laugh at work rather than the norm.
Once I got used to my section the job itself is a doddle. A few customers approached me for help which went really well but then I've always been sound at meeting folk & I enjoy helping them as well.

Gutted about losing the buzz so early that's what really pisses me off.

Try and stick it out until after Christmas. It's always going to be utter chaos in the run-up and as it's a new store that'll make things worse. The general feeling of doom and gloom everywhere this year isn't going to help the atmosphere either I'm afraid. Everyone seems pretty much fed up.

All they can ask of you is that you give of your best, and you're doing that. The rest will hopefully take care of itself. Keep at it and the best of luck.

Trying to make light of the situation, sounds to me like you've got a permanent job like most people round the country! I seem to remember that feeling quite well

Pleased for you hun, but to be honest I can see where the other employee's are coming from, as I used to do that job (not with food though) but it gets abit annoying, and every company has faults, and everyone will pick on the faults when they have been there for a long time. Hopefully it will pick up, but all company's are struggling at the moment and this will inevitably be passed onto the other employee's. I am sure it will pick up It always did with my job, which was the same to be honest.

It can get you down though, when you first start and you are really happy and what not, but I have so many fond memory's of working in Wilkinson's. Stick in there

The store has only been open 3 weeks Tinkerbell so nobody has been there mroe than around 5 weeks Total. God help us when it's 3 years We'll be having a Suicide a shift at this rate

Also there is Untold overtime as the bosses under estimated how busy the store would be so it's very understaffed. There is Ample opputunity to earn good money here & even more oppurtunity to have a laugh & a mellow work place.
Also me being worried about being took on went straight out the window once I saw how others feel about the place. I can see Untold people leaving & this store Needs anybody that is prepared to put up with it.

I think these people need me to Save them from there own self made Hell

3 weeks of being overworked would most likely do that to you. I know it annoyed alot of people when that happened in Wilkinson's.

Although I would expect them to be abit more cheery to be honest, especially if they have just had another worker to help with the load. God knows, maybe they are just a bunch of miserable sods!

Hopefully you can cheer them up abit!

Also they may have been on for more than 3 weeks, working before the shop was opening to stock up the place, which can be very pushed by managers and what not to get it all done on time. Which is what happened with me.
