Was thinking the same Mei

Pheebs, what matters is that you know you are doing this for the right reasons. It really is worth it in the long run so just try and remember that

I know, hence why I just led their wailing to myself and didn't go running downstairs!

Kids are different... they don't have puppy dawg eyes and they're not fluffy

Aye I admit it - I was little comfort to Pheebs. I felt guilty for giving Pheebs a hug. My mind was in the frame "if shes alone and suffereing, I shouldnt be allowed to be comfortable and huggy".
To be honest, its completely opposite to how I act as a person; correct or not, I hated myself.

Will - you're right, Protection is a joke.... Damn pup's afraid of a fly for gods sake!

If you don't do this Pheebs she will be very difficult when she is older, possibly to an amount you can't live with. This really is all for the best.
I remember when my sister appeared at our house for the first time with Coal, he was so tiny and sweet and we fussed him so badly but my dad was always slightly standoffish about it, not patting him until he wanted to and the like. Now Coal knows dad is in change, he is the only person Coal will not jump up at when he first meets them, he sits and waits until he is told to come over for a pat.
Cruel to be kind is necessary when training a puppy, my sister has another dog Mia and she is a rescue dog, she has never been trained properly and although she is toilet trained her basic commands are awful. We can't let her off the lead unless the park is empty as she doesn't come back a lot of the time until she feels like it and never has her muzzle off whilst on a walk since the time she tried to eat a duck. She is slowly getting better through a lot of hard work but she is a difficult dog.

Well, I am proud to say no tears for me last night She cried for about 15-20mins tops and then again at 2:30 (or it could have been 3:30) for 15-20mins and then again when she heard us get up!

So... massive improvement! I know it's for the best and I knew I had enough will power to stay upstairs, I just couldn't help but to ball my eyes out at her wailing on the first night

She's 10weeks today *YAY* and in the past 10 days we've had her she has now learnt...

*come*
(though sometimes she chooses not to hear this)
*sit* (brilliant at this... just does it at all the right points without even being asked)
*down* (lie down this is... still a little shaky but improving everyday)
*go fetch* (but sometimes she gets distracted enroute by shiny objects)
*no*(obvious command but 80% of the time she obeys)
*leave* (as above... is actually really good at this!)
*gentle* (when taking toys/treats.... getting her to gently mouth as opposed to snatch)
*kisses* (sounds silly but it stops her from nipping so much - instead she licks us )
Obviously we will keep these up everyday, but she's still needing to learn *stay*... she just doesn't get that one! She also needs to learn that pulling buds off my plants is nawty! Very very nawty!

Trying to get her pooing in one place now as currently she poos wherever tickles her fancy (outdoors though thankfully!). This, is not as easy as I hoped. Boo!

Yay for the improvements though! She's ace and I heart her lots!

Aww Kitten, hope she is ok. Mimi has a really sensitive tummy, if she eats something that doesn't agree with her (it can be anything even things she is fine with at other times) she is sick badly.

Pheebs trying to get her to poop in one place is going to be very difficult, dogs just don't do that kind of thing normally. Also may cause problems if she is on a walk and thinks she can only poop in that one place. You've done really well training her I'm pleased she is coming along so quickly.

Very true, our family dog would never wee or poo on a walk but would go straight in the garden on our return!

Both mine used to do it anywhere
