So excuse my agedness, what's the difference between house and trance then? It all sounds the same!

What's Sandstorm, house, trance, techno, garage, what?

Trance is a style of electronic dance music that developed in the 1990s. Trance music is generally characterized by a tempo of between 130 and 155 BPM, short melodic synthesizer phrases, and a musical form that builds up and down throughout a track

House music is uptempo music for dancing and has a tempo range of between 118 and 135 bpm.

Figured I'd just cut and paste from wikipedia I'm too lazy to read the whole article.

EDIT: House originated in the 1970s apparently.

EDIT 2: Just to confuse you even more Mr Feekles, sandstorm is hard trance

So they're essentially the same then, just house is a bit slower. I shall remember to take my bpm meter to the disco next week so I know what I'm rocking to.

hah pretty much yes. I couldn't really tell you the difference between the 2 apart from listening to the music.
