Ages since an update.. first some pics of the mantel piece (solid oak!!) I "floated"...
Before... not to our tastes... during. Having unscrewed the old box, I had to fill some areas in order to "no more nails" on the bullnose architrave that would form the side bits. Now. Much nicer, solid oak architrave, and floating mantel shelf fixed using 5 studs (cut threaded steel bar 10mm) 10cm sunk into the masonry, and 15cm sunk into the wood. I managed to get the holes lined up PERFECTLY (more luck than anything) so that I didn't have to put any grab adhesive in the holes. Means when we move we can take our £80 lump of oak with us - yes its pricey, but we wanted it and couldn't find any better deals for what we wanted. |

Now the driveway
this is somewhat what it started like... then the digger came and removed some earth and began to remove the side hedge. then the digger was nearly done excavating then came the edging stones and the hardcore <fnar>.. Starting to take shape nicely!!! And the current state of affairs all tarmac-ed and fenced up - just greenery and tidying to sort out |

Sweet both the picture of Trio and your drive way. It's all coming together.
