Default Any ballet lovers about?

I'm after some tickets for my mum for Christmas and she'd like one of the classical ballets (i.e. not modern). Unfortunately the two she mentioned aren't showing in London and I have no idea about any others! The two she mentioned were Swan Lake and Coppelia and it needs to be in London, anyone know what's good?

On first glance, not really much on at the moment I would wait for something 'decent' to come along.

Swan Lake is great for a first-timer but the Nutcracker, as Pebs says, is best because of the amazing music though SL is also brilliant.

Take my advice and don't sit too near the front - the sound of the dancers on the stage can tend to ruin it.

Nearly forgot, Giselle.

Why not buy something for her in advance (and do it such that the tickets are given to her for Xmas)?

How about Matthew Bourne's Edward Scissorhands?

*Boyfriend of a ballet & contemporary dancer right here*

Saw that but I think my mum is after something very classical as opposed to comteporary & modern.

Thanks for the responses, wasn't expecting anything but thought I'd give it a go!

How about Sleeping Beauty? That's at the Coliseum for the next week or so. Fantastic music of course and it's the English National Ballet.

Search around for Giselle if you can though - it's a bit dark later on but can be a great production in addition to the music and dance.

Agree about the noise, it's a right racket near the front! Also the rather large er.....packages in the tights can be a little distracting if you're too close and I mean that sincerely. Last time I went there was one that was just unfeasably ginormous and it was hypnotising.
