The AA
I bought a brand new car recently and as it comes with 3 years warranty and roadside stuff i thought i may as well cancel my AA. I paid a year up front (joined when stranded on the A14 after my clutch snapped) and was only about 2/3 of the way through the year. They said instead of ending the membership they would suspend it until my 3 years warranty runs out and then start it up again with my remaning 1/3 of a year. How impressive is that! Not often i have good things to say about a company.

It means they keep you as a customer, so there's a lot in it for them. Mind you, I'll bet most companies would tell you where to go, so it's still a sign of good customer service.

They didn't care about me.
I broke down, phoned them and quoted my number only to be told that my membership had expired a year before. Turned out that when I'd changed bank accounts and told them, and set up a new direct debit they'd changed my payment method to cash and not told me. Cost me £160 to get someone out, I lost my history with them (been a member since 1997) and my free homestart. Wasn't happy But glad you're sorted Cliffy.

I've only had to call the AA out once and that was when the turbo inlet pipe went on my car. The guy that came out to look at it told me there was nothing wrong. Obviously the black smoke coming from under the bonnet, total lack of acceleration (not good in a 200bhp car) and god awful sound under acceleration didn't mean anything to him so I was told to drive the 80 miles home and call VW.
I bitched like hell at the AA call centre and received an upgrade to my cover for the rest of the policy and a free years cover. Nice. |
