Default Battlefield 1943

Official Site: http://www.battlefield1943.com
Developer: DiCE
Publisher: EA Games

Available from tomorrow (8th July) on Xbox360 and thursday (July 9th) on PS3 comes DiCE's Battlefield 1943, and features 3 maps playable from the start, Wake Island, Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal and after 43 million community kills per format, the 4th and final map, Coral Sea. The gameplay features around 24 player multiplayer on land, sea and air.

The game itself uses the Frostbite engine, the frankly stunning engine from Battlefield: Bad Company.

Quote:
Battlefield 1943´s Frostbite game engine allows for practically total destruction of all environments. That means that you can level almost anything you encounter in the game - from airplanes to buildings, bunkers, vehicles and navy vessels. Take aim, fire and watch the fireworks as your enemies' cover and heavy weaponry explode to little pieces! Use the destruction to your tactical advantage as you blow a new "door" in a building to flank the Japanese bucked down inside, or clear a path through the trees for a better line of sight to the action.
The game costs:

To download it on Xbox360:
The marketplace page from where to buy it can be found here.

To download it on Playstation 3:
Quote:
* 1. Select the PlayStation®Store in the home menu of the PS3 console.
* 2. Browse to find Battlefield 1943™ in the PlayStation®Store.
* 3. Select "Add to Cart"
* 4. Select "View Cart" then "Proceed to Checkout".
* 5. Confirm your purchase to begin downloading Battlefield 1943™
* 6. Once the download is complete, install the game and you are ready to play online!
Is anyone else getting this? I have already bought my points and I know Dunketh said he would be. Hopefully we can get a good group together of gamers here, that would be awesome.

For those wanting to buy 2100 point packs for Xbox360, I just ordered mine today from http://www.live-codes.com/ using the voucher "FRUGALGAMING" for 50p off and the code arrived within 30 seconds of checkout, which is impressive.

Argh! Which version to get, looks leet and the price is surprisingly reasonable.

[EDIT] 360 version is slightly cheaper which puts me more in favour of that version

- Unlimited ammo
- Auto health regeneration
- Three entire classes which are largely the same
- Three maps, at least one of which is lifted from BF1942
- Maximum of 24 players

Has it changed much since I last heard about it and that ^^ was the case? Because that sounds a bit pants to me :/

I'm certainly gonna give the demo a go, as I'm a Battlefield fan. Trouble is I've got Sam and Max still to finish and Monkey Island due out next week!

This is my train of thought, also there's that 2-D platformer Epic are making that i will probably end up getting. I know it's a long way away but it's nice to know the points will certainly be spent on something eventually :E

i liked the look of this when it was on coop - but for £9.99 and only 3 maps, i'll have to wait and see if its actually any good on PS3. its all about how many people are on there, etc with PS3.

Four maps, one is locked.
Remember, Battlefield 2 was brilliant, but it was ALWAYS 'Strike at Karkand'. Counter-Strike was brilliant, but it was always "de_dust2", Quake 3 was brilliant, but it was always "q3dm6", so it doesn't so much matter how many maps there are, the best ones will always get played.

Also, Battlefield 1943 has been getting some rather brilliant reviews. I wouldn't look at a lack of maps as a bad thing, but more a guage of quality over quantity.
