Default Day out Off road.

So it took me around 25 minutes to get there this morning & I was first there, I paid my 20 quid & told the Dude that I would be taking it easy as I had just got the Landy 2 weeks ago, Sure he said Enjoy yourself.
I wandered off around some rutts which the Landy took in it's stride & then I came across this BIG hole full of muddy water, Without hesitation I dropped in, Got a part way across it & me Landy died.
The Landy filled up with water up to my seat/knees it was Ace. This is me standing/crouching on the seat to get my batty out the water.

We seem to have had a small leak in the back as well.

This was the view out my window which I climbed out of & on to the wing, Then the bonnet, I slung a line across & hooked up the winch off the disco bottom shot & they dragged me out. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
Not so fast !!! I turned the engine over & it just locked up.
So I tells the dudes I know **** all about Landys & they advised me, In short I popped the glow plugs out & turned it over shooting water out the head, Then I took the pipes off & drained the water out, The bottom of the cvooler was at such an angle the water was trapped. I had to take a pipe off the motor & use it as a straw sucking the muddy water into my mouth & spitting it out. + (You may have to read that again to take that in )
So just as I was putting her back together my mates turned up Laughing.
I cranked her over & she started first ******** time for ***** sake.
So I let her tick over & then got back to it, Had a good few hours in the rutts & wandering around the site, Kin Perfect day.
I learnt a Heck of a lot today & came back Beaming.

The Guys from 3DS4x4 laughed saying "I thought you were taking it easy, Can't wait to see you going for it"

Stuck !!!

Got the Bob Tail tugging him out from the rear.

Here's the Bob tail, I should have got a better pic of it as it looks Great. Two tiny Young'uns in it.

3DS4x4 Disco, The Lads were Great, Winching me out, Lending me tools, Giving advice, Top Blokes who really look after you.

All in all a Fantastic day Off roading, I tested myself & my Landy to the point of Fail, I learnt a lot about my Landy & how to fix it & we bonded. When she fired up again for me it was like a Marriage.

Took me 7 minutes to find that hole, Fly in to it & kill the Landy. About 40 minutes to sort the Landy & get it going again.
I'll be sorting the snorkel out Myself this week & tackling the pit of death as soon as I arrive next time. I'll kick me mate out to get some vid footage.

That's really good Malc, I had a couple of hours in a landy round a course somewhere in Kent a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed it, didn't get stuck anywhere though but that's only because there was some big bastard aussie in the passenger seat telling me what to do!

Saw a big, raised 4x4 drive past us as we were at the park with the kids today, it looked like it had been having fun. You couldn't see any paintwork clear of mud and even the side and back windows were smothered!

**** me, £20 for a day of motoring fun* Puts the cost of the Sprints and Track days I used to do into perspective

*Yes I know there were other associated costs but compared to £60-80 for a Sprint and £150-200 for a Track day.......

Mate, do yourself a favor and do an oil change on the engine, tranny, transfer case and differentials. If it went in deep enough for it to hydrolock, it went in deep enough to get water in everything else.

You can try checking the fluids before draining them to see if the age old chocolate milkshake in there. If no milkshake, you're probably good to go. But I'd still look carefully. Having any of those items run with a lack of lube can get expensive real quick.

Looks like you had a good time. I'm envious (again). I spent today rebuilding my locking hubs.
