Default Mexican cornbread?

What do mexicans use their corn bread for how do they serve it or what do they serve it with.

I've only ever made american style cornbread for a hangover breakfast or lazy Sunday brunch. Served with butter or milk and golden syrup.

Mexican dishes seem to be tortilla or rice based.

I've just been to Mexico and didn't get any corn bread! But my mum used to make it occasionally for Christmas/Thanksgiving, just with butter on a side plate. So, so good.
