What's your prescription?
I'm pretty sure I need glasses and I'm getting my eyes tested on Saturday. I think I'm long sighted, I don't get headaches when looking at a computer screen for a long time but if I relax my eyes I can make the text go blurry.
I've had my eyes tested in the past and the first time both eyes were less than 1. The optometrist basically said I could get glasses if I wanted to but it wasn't really necessary, so I didn't bother. I can't remember what it was the second time, maybe one eye was 1.25 and the other slightly less. Anyway, the optometrist didn't even discuss whether glasses were necessary and palmed me off to a salesperson. So I'm wondering what's the minimum prescription that glasses will be of noticable help? I'm sure its a personal thing but at the same time I don't want to fork out £100+ for some glasses that are of little use. |

Daz is similar to you, for me to wear his glasses, they seem very weak, almost like they are just made of plastic But he said when he has them on, they make the world of difference.
Would you consider contact lenses instead? I cant live without mine now. |

Its not that I don't want to wear glasses, in fact it might be quite cool to get some mega geeky ones. I just don't want to spend money on something that's not going to be of use to me.

I think you'll be surprised just how much difference they make, if you dont fancy spending a few £££, then use your prescription on Glasses Direct, I know Leon sings their praises

I'm becoming blind as a bat now
Left is -2.50 and right has just changed to -3.00. I'm still wearing -2.75 in my right eye and I can tell that it needs a little extra help. End of this month and I can go on to my new stronger lenses

I'm around -6.5 to -7 in each eye, I can't remember the exact figure but it's not far off those. Add an almighty astigmatism as well.

I first started wearing glasses/lenses when I was -1.00 in my right eye and -0.75 in my left. I found they made a massive difference.. things suddenly had edges

Thanks, I didn't realise such a low prescription could make such a difference! My sister started wearing glasses a while ago and admitted they were partly cosmetic which made me think there should be a practical limit. I let my eyes relax for 5 minutes this afternoon whilst looking at my screen and it messed me up trying to focus again afterwards! I got some vouchers with my work eye test but I'll compare prices online. Thanks!
