Cleaning up vomit
Welcome to my disgusting thread, no pictures though
Had a few friends round last night and some drinks on the go. One guy went off to make a phonecall and we never saw him again. Found him at 4am face down in his own vomit :/ On my mattress Firstly in the short term: How do i clean this up in the most effective way? Searching via google is fine but I wouldn't mind some real world answers The stain is also on the carpet too. Secondly: Would it be better/quicker at this point to toss the mattress and get a new one? Thanks

1. Make you mate do it.
2. And buy you a new mattress.

Carpet is fine, easy to clean. Mattresses (in my hurly experience) should be burnt.

Funny enough that's exactly what Matt said, and I said 'don't post that, it's not exactly helpful is it?'
Pebs might know, NYE 2008 was a bit eventful in that sense. I think we ended up throwing everything away in the end. For the carpet though, try a good squirt of bleach in a bowl of warm water. That should help remove the smell & the stain. Bicarb of soda is good for stains too. I think the mattress will be a gonna though.

Sorry to be blunt about this but I'd be marching him down to the nearest place that sells mattresses and tell him he isn't leaving until he's bought you a new one

Yeah a mattress tends to soak things up like a sponge and never really let go. You only end up "cleaning" the outside, the inside is still reaking to hell...
