Potential Ginormous phone bill alert :/
I didnt disable my data access on hols, as I thought I could just do it from my phpne settings (which I could, but it kept bloody automatically connecting).
It was connected for 10hrs (thought i had turned the phone off :/), but I didnt use it to browse, though the weather may have updated etc. Phoned Orange & the woman basically didnt have a clue & said all foreign charges dont come in till up to 3 months later :/ Anyone know what the craic is & what to do? :/ Thanks BB x |

Isn't it based on data usage? In which case it should be pretty minimal.

If it only did background type stuff and you didn't actively use it then in theory there should only be a minimal amount of data used and the bill should be nice and low.
It's true that foreign charges can take some time to come in but in my experience changes from European countries usually hit the following month at the latest. |

What phone have you got? You should just be able to turn off data, or roaming or both? I do it all the time on my android, and my previous nokia phones...

Disabling roaming should stop data charges, but doesn't always - as some iPhone users found out (may since have been fixed). I'd imagine the same goes with switching off data.
I got no roaming charges last year but I was paranoid not to trigger any data use while out of range of a wi-fi base station (ended up buying my own as the hotel one was rubbish). It does take a while for the data charges to filter through but if you've got a charge cap then that should help. |

Cool thanks guys
Didn't use the phone, the only thing that would have used it would be the weather updating.. Fingers crossed! BB x |

I used to leave my data on constantly, just bringing in the e-mail. One day, I downloaded "your orange" from the market and it told me I was on 760mb of data usage, which I find very hard to believe. but Orange add send/receive together and bill from that.
