Apparently it isn't worth the update from FS9. My mum's partner is heavily into 2004 and has virtually every mod for it/scenery pack/plane models. I've read a review and basically he says that if you're that much into it, don't bother. Also it runs like a dog with any good settings turned on. I wouldn't waste your money. I'd just get FS2004 with lots of realtime traffic/mapping/flighpaths/airports etc.

lol, I've clocked many thousands of hours in flight sims over the years and it's impossible to own every available add-on, there are so many. I've worked on some commercial add-ons as well

Every msfs new version is a massive upgrade of the previous one and everything I've seen or read about X indicates that as always it's a worthwhile upgrade. Sure, some of the old addons won't work initially but they tend to get patched or upgraded.

He'll upgrade. Trust me

Yeah he keeps saying he won't upgrade, but when vista comes out I bet he will. At the moment he has:

64 3500
2gb ram
20.1 dell tft
Lots of gubbins

Anyway...my sister's partner has:

FX62
SLI 7800GTX

He can't get it to run well on anything other than low.

I have FS2004, and played it quite a bit when I got it.. But I've not had the time since getting it. Ideally I would like to have a more realistic terrain mesh for SW England, but they all seem not to bother about the isles of Scilly. The complexities of upgrading, and getting the right versions of planes, and installing them meant I lost interest...
If I ever have a week where I'm doing nothing, I'd prolly try it again.
