tablet
Been thinking about getting a tablet for jo as she was very interested in a kindle, and obviously you can put kindle app on a tablet.
Thing is they are expensive! Any suggestions as I can't go above £100 and then that is quite high! Am I better off just getting an e reader? Im clueless here!! |

That looks worth a punt but I've not actually read up on it yet. Failing that Google are doing their conference next week iirc - could be some price drops on the Nexus 7 incoming so I'd hold on for a little bit! I got an OcUK branded 10.1" tablet for £150 at christmas and I'm happy with it although the volume is little low (mono speaker) and Android 4.1 has a known sleep of death issue that certainly effects my device!

If its primarily for reading then you may be better off with a proper reader. Vix has been reading a lot on her iPad but got a kindle paperwhite recently as the iPad was useless when sitting outside in the sun. The kindle is also a lot easier for her to just stick in her bag when we go anywhere

As above, if it's for reading I stick with a dedicated machine for that rather than a cheap tablet. I've never used a cheap tablet but every time I hear of somebody buying one they always seem disappointed.

If it was me, I would be getting that. I would have suggested that one but it was over budget. My Mom loves her Kindle, she has an iPad as well but uses the kindle all the time for reading

I love my iPad but never read on it unless I have to (i.e. reading in car when dark) ... I much prefer the kindle although I just have a basic touch (had keyboard one but broke it :/). It depends on if she has access to another tablet/laptop easy enough, if not, it might be a compromise worth considering. However if it's just reading she wants, I'd go dedicated e~ reader
