Tres bien - Homemade Pizza
No pics, because it got noshed immediately, but I made pizza tonight with a load of goodies that my Parents brought back from France for us (brie, sun-dried tomatoes, chorizo, olives etc.). It was bloody lovely!
All I did was add water to some pizza dough mix, kneeded it, rolled it out and left it to stand for 10 mins. Whilst that was happening, I finely sliced some red onion, fresh mushrooms and chorizo. I also chopped up some sun-dried tomatoes, de-stoned a few olives, cut some chunks of brie and grated the obligitory 2 stone of cheddar Then I spread some tomato puree on the pizza base and put a layer of cheese on it. Next, I arranged all my lovely ingredients and then topped it with more cheese and finally the brie. 20 mins in the oven, served with some lettuce out of the garden with cherry toms and balsamic vinegar / EV Olive oil.... NUM NUM NUM!!! I call it the Med Feast! Anyone else make their own pizza?? What toppings do you use?

we often make our own
here is our recipie - 1pkt smoked Bacon 1 tin chopped tomatoes 1/2 onion 200g Mushrooms (chopped into qtrs) 1 or 2 chillies (or to taste!) 1/2 tsp chilli sauce (tabasco or the like) as hot as you like it fresh Oregano & basil Salt & Pepper 1pkt Pizza base mix trim fat from bacon dry fry bacon and onion Add mushrooms, cook for further couple of minutes drain any excess fluid Stir in Chilli Add Tomatoes. Add herbs season to taste Simmer gently until it has reduced to a paste like consistency (about an hour for me!). while this is happening... put oven on to about 170degC mix up Pizza base as directed on the packet. Roll out to a disc, leave for 15 mins Once Pizza mix has reached desired consistency, spread over the base. add pepperoni to taste add any other topping you like Grate cheese over the mix cook in the oven until the cheese has melted and coloured a little. |
