PC Upgrade
I haven't upgraded my PC in a long time, A very very long time in fact so it I essentially need to start from scratch, so my plan was to install the following components inside my existing Cooler Master 210 (assuming an ATX 2.2 PSU fits in an "ATX" case).
All of that is from scan.co.uk as they are cheapest once you take into account delivery costs plus they appear to be the only e-tailer to show a difference between the 95W G0 Q6600 and a normal B3 or older Q6600 other than Oc. Amazon do a better price for Vista - I am also concerned about the "UPGRADE to 64Bit" comment, does that mean I have to install Vista 32 then upgrade to 64 - which would be odd as they are different kernels etc. The Amazon products has separate products for 32 and 64 bit. Anyone got any thoughts, having not ordered parts for a new computer for 3 or 4 years I am actually quite nervous. |

Looks like a solid build Rich
I'd guess that is what the Vista thingummy means. Worth the 64bit version with the chip though... You gonna get a TV card? 'Cause that monitor will pwn your TV

Don't buy retail Vista, buy OEM, much cheaper. I don't know the mobo or the PSU but the rest looks good.

I do already have a TV card from a build I did for someone else that went wrong, how useful it is is debatable as we can't get Freeview or Channel 5 - I guess that will change by 2012 though.... Maybe!

Ah ha, now that is very interesting - I wonder why the difference between the UK and the US OEM EULAs.
Any idea on where this leaves you on the "licence lives and dies with the motherboard" issue? |

It still lives, and it still dies, unless they changed that part (why on earth would anyone buy Retail if they did).
